The Mike Nagle RallySprint returns! As last year’s ARA Steward put it, “Mike Nagle is a RallySprint in name only” and is a coefficient 2 points scoring event for the California Rally Series (CRS) – the last event in the 2026 CRS Rally Championship.
We’re running the same road as before, but changing things up by running it in the reverse direction. Additionally, we’re moving to a 2 day format with Recce and Tech on Saturday and racing on Sunday. Although we won’t be racing into the night, finishing the day earlier should be a benefit for both competitors and volunteers. The weekend is a convenient gap between deer and elk hunting seasons, so we shouldn’t have that traffic on recce as we did last year.
The event is based in Columbia County, just 45 minutes northwest of Portland in an area that OTR historians remember well. For lodging, there are several campgrounds and hotels in the area. Although it’s a RallySprint, we’ll start things off with a Parc Expose in historic downtown St. Helens for the locals. It was a big hit last year, and local leaders are excited to have us back. Headquarters and the Service Park will again be at the St. Helens Rec. Center parking lot, with the podium being across the street at McCormick Park.
The road surface is hard packed gravel, and at 39 miles, Mike Nagle is longer than most RallySprint events. The more relaxed atmosphere of the RallySprint is perfect for testing, learning, or just wanting to have a good time in the woods. It’s also an opportunity for us to gain new volunteers, for previous volunteers to learn new skills, and most of all provide an environment where everyone has fun.
We won’t have any spectator areas, so if your friends or family want to see the action, please have them sign up to volunteer, we’d love their help.
