California Rally Series Announces 2019 Rally Championship Schedule

December 6, 2018 by Erik Christiansen

Los Angeles – The California Rally Series (CRS) is excited to announce the 2019 Rally
Championship schedule, featuring five rallies.2019 also welcomes the return of the CRS Side by Side (SxS) Championship, which will consist of select events where the popular sport vehicles will compete on the same stages as rally cars.

The CRS season kicks off north of Los Angeles with the High Desert Trails (HDT) Rally on May 4 th in Ridgecrest, CA. Competitors can expect more of the eclectic terrain that makes HDT distinctive – from high-speed blasts through the Joshua tree lined desert to tight and twisty stages dodging Sequoia trees, with a water splash thrown in for good measure. HDT will return to a one day format, and count as a coefficient 3 (3x points) event for the CRS championship.

Returning to the CRS calendar is the Idaho Rally, which will be held on June 22 & 23 near Boise, ID. Run on smooth, flowing roads in the scenic, tree-lined hills of southern Idaho, this event will count as two coefficient 3 events towards the championship. Idaho will also support SxS vehicles and count towards the CRS SxS Championship.

For the first time, Rally Colorado will join the CRS Rally Championship. Based in Rangely, CO, on July 26 & 27, the rally takes place on scenic, high-elevation mountain roads in the western part of the state. As a new addition to the CRS calendar, Friday’s event will count as a coefficient 3 in the rally championship as well as the SxS championship.

The Gorman Ridge Rally holds its traditional spot on the calendar, taking place on August 24. Based just over an hour north of Los Angeles in Frazier Park, CA, this compact and beginner friendly event takes place within the Hungry Valley off-road vehicle park. This year the rally will run as a coefficient 3 event featuring tight and twisty stages with minimal transits. Gorman Ridge Rally will be the final event for the CRS SxS Championship.

Capping off the season is the Prescott Rally in Prescott, Arizona on September 27 & 28. Featuring some of the most scenic rally roads in the country, the stages take competitors on a high-speed run through picturesque red-rock southwest desert landscape. Prescott will run as a coefficient 2 event on Friday night and a coefficient 3 event on Saturday, which means manyclass championships could be decided at the finale.
